The Archbishop Vining College of Theology, Akure, today held its Matriculation Ceremony for students admitted into the 2025 Summer Session across three academic programmes: the Diploma in Ministry (Leadership & Empowerment), the Bachelor of Theology, and the Masters of Theology.

The event, which took place at the College’s serene campus at Oke-Emeso, Akure, was marked by a spirit of solemnity, reflection, and commitment to theological scholarship and leadership development within the Church and society at large.

The Matriculation Ceremony formally inducted the new students into the academic community of Archbishop Vining College of Theology, granting them full rights and responsibilities as members of the institution.

The College, a respected theological institution within the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of Christian leaders through its diverse and contextually relevant programmes.

As the summer session begins, the College community looks forward to a season of growth, learning, and spiritual deepening.

In a nail-biting finale, 𝐀𝐕𝐂𝐓𝐀 𝐅𝐂 secured the 2024 Language School league championship with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over 𝐎𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐄 𝐅𝐂, despite a Second-half wrist injury to central back and team Captain, Segun Taiwo.
The decisive goal came in the early minute of the first half, courtesy of a brilliant Midfielder, 𝑵𝒌𝒘𝒐𝒄𝒉𝒂 𝑲𝒆𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒕𝒉 𝑬𝒎𝒆𝒌𝒂, from 𝐀𝐕𝐂𝐓𝐀 𝐅𝐂.

The team’s defense, marshaled by the injured 𝑻𝒂𝒊𝒘𝒐 𝑺𝒆𝒈𝒖𝒏 𝑺𝒂𝒎𝒖𝒆𝒍, held firm against 𝕆𝕂𝔼ℕ𝔼 𝔽ℂ’𝕤 relentless pressure, securing a crucial three points to be crown champion.

𝑻𝒂𝒊𝒘𝒐’𝒔 injury, which occurred in the 75th minute, threatened to derail 𝐀𝐕𝐂𝐓𝐀 𝐅𝐂’𝐬 momentum. However, his teammates rallied around him as he managed till the end of the match, putting in a resolute shift to protect their slender lead.

In the post-match ceremony, the 𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒆 and the 𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒔 𝑪𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝐀𝐛𝐞 𝐎𝐥𝐮𝐰𝐚𝐤𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐝𝐞, praised the team for their perseverance, particularly in light of 𝑻𝒂𝒊𝒘𝒐’𝒔 injury. “This victory is a testament to the strength and unity of us all. We showed incredible character and determination, especially after losing Our team captain in the late hour of the match,” he said. “Segun’s injury wanted to create setback, but we adapted and showed our resilience. This title is a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication, no doubt”

AVCTA FC’s victory sparked jubilant scenes, with players and supporters, especially students from 𝑰𝑴𝑴𝑨𝑪𝑶𝑻𝑯𝑬𝑶 who wish the match end in favour of 𝐀𝐕𝐂𝐓𝐀 𝐅𝐂 so as to maintain their third position on the league table, celebrating 𝐀𝐕𝐂𝐓𝐀 𝐅𝐂 championship triumph.

AVCTA FC’s championship win marks a historic moment for the entire 𝔸𝕣𝕔𝕙𝕓𝕚𝕤𝕙𝕠𝕡 𝕍𝕚𝕟𝕚𝕟𝕘 ℂ𝕠𝕝𝕝𝕖𝕘𝕖 𝕠𝕗 𝕋𝕙𝕖𝕠𝕝𝕠𝕘𝕪, 𝔸𝕜𝕦𝕣𝕖 under the leadership of 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐕𝐄𝐍. 𝐃𝐑 𝐌𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐁𝐎𝐋𝐔 𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐔𝐍𝐌𝐁𝐈, 𝐉𝐏, capping off an incredible season.

Despite the challenges faced, the team’s resolve and teamwork ultimately led them to glory.

Today, we join millions of well wishers to celebrate not only the birthday of 𝑫𝒓 𝑴𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒔 𝑨𝒅𝒆𝒃𝒐𝒍𝒖 𝑨𝑫𝑬𝑻𝑼𝑵𝑴𝑩𝑰, but also a life and a man who embodied wisdom, compassion, and leadership qualities that makes him a father figure to all his students and an esteemed Church historian.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐒𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐁𝐎𝐋𝐔 𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐔𝐍𝐌𝐁𝐈, 𝑷𝒉𝑫, 𝑱𝑷, is a man whose life is dedicated to education and to the well-being of every student who walked through the doors of his tutelage. 𝑩𝒂𝒃𝒂 is more than just a Rector and Lecturer; he is a guiding light, offering mentorship and support to everyone of us in his care. His office since attaining the role of a Rector of the college is always open, a safe haven where any students could seek guidance, share their dreams, or simply find a listening ear. He has an extraordinary ability to see potential in each of us, encouraging us to pursue our passions and reach for our goals.

Our Father’s contributions so far to academia extends beyond his role as a leader. As a Church historian, 𝑫𝒂𝒅𝒅𝒚 𝑨𝒅𝒆𝒕𝒖𝒏𝒎𝒃𝒊 passionately explore on a daily basis the rich tapestry of our faith’s history, sharing his insights with the students always. His lectures were not just lessons; they were invitations to explore the depths of our beliefs and understand the foundations of our faith. His love for history was infectious, igniting a curiosity in all of us to learn more and delve deeper into our shared heritage. He treats every student as his own child, celebrating our successes and comforting us in our failures. He teaches us that education is not just about academics; it’s about building a community grounded in love, respect, and support.

As a Theologian and Liturgist that he is, His knowledge of our liturgy is vast, and he shares it with such enthusiasm that it was impossible not to be captivated. Through his lectures and discussions, he teaches us to appreciate our heritage and our roots, to learn from great liturgists, and to apply those lessons in our services to be great worship leaders. He has a unique ability to connect historical events to our present realities, reminding us of the essence of being able to conduct any service well and be the best in our vocation and calling.
